Okay here’s the plan! (sorta)
I have some life updates and studio updates to share. There are so many changes around here, and it’s about time I fill you in on what’s happening. I’m really excited! But first, here’s some art:
Prickly Pear No. 1, a Digital Painting done in Procreate with my iPad and apple pencil
Recently I moved from Central Texas to Lincoln, NE with my husband, our 1.5 year old Little Guy, 2 pups, and a turtle. It was quite the move! I am so dang excited to be here in NE. It’s lovely and we’re sort of getting settled in up here. My art studio has been pushed to the side for a bit though… getting up here was the main goal, and now that we’re here it’s time to find a house. After all of that is when I’ll setup my studio again.
The first month or so in Nebraska we stayed with my in-laws, who are amazing and let us take over their basement! It was great, but CRAMPED (2 dogs, a turtle, and 3 people in a basement… lol), so next we found a 2-bedroom apartment to call home while we sold the house in TX and then can buy a house up here. It’s a sort of chaotic mess, but also I love it. Everything is fine, we’ve found most of our clothes, unpacked enough of our things to get pretty comfortable, and now the house hunt is ON. Hopefully we’ll be moved into a house by the time fall rolls around. The goal is to have a basement for football season!
All that being said, I don’t have an art studio for now. My painting supplies are in storage, so my ability to make things is limited. It’s actually been really wonderful to simplify life for a bit. And I’m painting on my iPad!! The last year or so I’ve practiced on it some, but now that I don’t have the option to paint on canvas (Also Little Guy realllllly likes to help, so it’s not like I was getting much painting done before the move anyway LOL) I’m really focused on developing my digital art practice. I try to draw/paint on my iPad a little everyday, even if it’s just a few minutes.
I’d like to start selling art more as well! If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen me share some of my recent Cuppa paintings! Those along with a few other pieces are now on my Etsy shop as digital downloads. I have a few others you can order as prints, and I’m working on making mugs available soon, too. I’ll try to keep you in the loop so you know what’s happening with all of that. I don’t want to make too many extra commitments with this in-between stage of life we’re in right now, but it’s time to get back in an art routine and “open” my studio of sorts. Here’s sort of my short-term plan:
draw or paint on my iPad everyday ~ I’ll share progress to Instagram so you can see, too!
focus on building my Etsy shop with art reproductions (canvas and paper prints, framed art, mugs, pillows, etc.)
move into a house :-)
After that I have LOTS of ideas, but I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. My brain keeps dreaming of selling original paintings and doing art shows and commissions and I know I’ll get there. Will you follow along with me until then?
